Forest Hikes From the Back Door
The view from the deck south along the front range is pretty spectacular.
Two reservoirs are within a 30 minute hike. One has excellent cutthroat trout fishing.
The rock outcroppings are worth the climb, in some cases you can gain 1,500' on a hike that takes only 90 minutes from the house and back. The hikes are moderately sloped to flat, with the occasional steep segment, and almost all the trails are above 8,000'. You can get in shape for those Fourteeners here!
The quality of the trails vary from open woods and meadows to low brush and dense forest. The forest is quite hilly, with lots of ridge-top trails into areas of granite boulders.
